How We Work With Partners
KTO is not a charity asking for handouts. We are an organization that works alongside government and international institutions to deliver education at national scale. Our role as the umbrella for all 55 Folk Development Colleges gives partners direct access to a nationwide network of community-rooted institutions.
Sweden's Sida has been our foundational partner since 1990, demonstrating what long-term bilateral cooperation achieves. UEFA Foundation supports Mpira Fursa with program-specific funding and technical resources. Uppsala and Linkoping universities collaborate on research and knowledge exchange. Each partnership is structured around shared goals, transparent reporting, and measurable outcomes.

Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency
Foundational partner since 1990, funding the Tanzania-Sweden cooperation that created KTO. A 2024 independent evaluation validated KTO's strong impact in advancing youth skills, gender equality, and education policy. Supports all core operations and program development across 55 FDCs.

Government Partners
KTO operates within Tanzania's government education infrastructure. The Government of Tanzania is not just a stakeholder: it is a co-investor, providing infrastructure, salaries, and institutional support across all 55 Folk Development Colleges.

MoESTPrimary government partner. Provides FDC infrastructure, teacher salaries, meal subsidies, and fee waivers. Collaborates on curriculum development and vocational training across all programs.

The Government Co-Investment Model
The Government of Tanzania contributes FDC infrastructure, teacher salaries (100% government-funded), meal subsidies (810,000 TZS per student/year), and fee waivers (250,000 TZS per participant) for EHM participants. KTO provides program design, training, monitoring, and international coordination. The model multiplies impact far beyond what either party could achieve alone.
